Bill tells us folks nearby quickly put the fire out with a couple of fire extinguishers and the help of Lovingston Volunteer Department.

Photo By Steve Crandall : Scenes like this one have been playing out all across the Central Virginia Blue Ridge and points to the south. This is Hat Creek in Roseland of Nelson County flowing over the driveway bridge of Steve Crandall. Flooding rains from what’s left of Hurricane Florence have been pounding the area. Monday morning – September 17, 2018.
Central Virginia Blue Ridge
Heavy flooding rains have been pounding most of the area all morning long and that’s expected to continue into the night as whats left of Hurricane Florence slowly beings pulling away to the northeast over the next day or so.
Numerous trees have been falling down due to the saturated ground and some roads have been flooded out as well.
There’s flooding all over several counties, and road closures are too numerous to mention, but be sure to check with DOT websites before heading out if you plan to travel.
More update and photos being added throughout the day.

Nelson Farmers Market Manager, Tim Marsh has reached out to BRL to let us know that the Nelson Farmers Market tents were temporarily removed earlier this week out of caution for possible high winds over the weekend.
“Due to the rain and winds our area is projected to receive from the impacts of Hurricane Florence, the Board of Directors of the Nelson Farmers Market has decided to cancel the market for Saturday, Sep. 15th. The tents have been removed, as the field where the market is held may need to be utilized by emergency services. Hopefully, our area will not be impacted, but we would rather err on the side of safety,” NFM Market Manager Tim Marsh said.
