Any of us that travel 151 over Brents Mountain know what a challenge that can be during snow and ice. Unfortunately the guys at VDOT got a taste of it today as well. Early this morning while trying to get the roads cleared for the rest of us, this guys slid on the ice and snow on Brents. Heidi Crandall grabbed this shot for us. Thankfully the guys over at Stoney Creek Auto were able to get him on his way!

After a good strong tug from the Stoney Creek Auto wrecker, VDOT was up and on their way again!

The snow came to an end shortly after daylight in Nelson County and with plenty of sunshine, the snow pack is now melting on many of the primary roadways. A Winter Storm Warning previously in effect has been canceled. Temps will not rise very much today and will be near the freezing mark in locations below 2000 feet. On the mountains and along the Blue Ridge Parkway, afternoon highs will remain in the teens.

The 4 or so inches of snow made for perfect sledding. Yvette tried the hill out back this morning! So did the beagles!
