Hard to believe we were talking 75° just a few days ago and now temps are in the teens in the mountains and in the lower 30’s down below just before noon Monday.

Some light snow showers fell mid-morning Monday with some places like Montebello and Wintergreen getting a nice dusting. More flurries and snow showers can be expected Monday afternoon in advance of a strong cold front that will drop temperatures throughout the day. By Monday night temps will bottom out in the upper teens in the lower elevations and in the singles digits up in the higher elevations. Expect colder conditions Tuesday night.

Milder weather with showers will return by the second half of the week.

Virginia State Police are seeking the public’s assistance with locating a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian in Nelson County early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, a red Jeep was traveling along Route 6 when it ran off the road, went down an embankment, overturned and struck a tree. The driver, Daniel J. Rasnake, 21, of Shipman, Va., called a family member for help.

Our BRL-Nature Foundation At Wintergreen temperature gauge up at 3500 feet showed temps in the lower 20’s by late Friday. That allowed Wintergreen Resort to fire back up the snowmaking system. With all of the warm temps lately, the cold weather was a welcome sight!

Taking advantage of this brief cold period and trying really hard to get the ski area open, if only for a few days! Check the blog to see if we succeed! www.wintergreenresort.com/Blog
