Wintergreen Fire & Rescue Chief Curtis Sheets tells BRL, “The situation is under control as of 9 PM Saturday night.”

BRL has confirmed several different fire crews are on the scene of a forest fire just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in the general area of the Humpback Rocks Visitor Center.

“We have 2 from Wintergreen Fire, Rockfish Fire has 2, Wilson 2, Dooms 2, and Virginia Department of Forestry. Waynesboro First Aid ambulance has also been dispatched for any medical assistance that might be needed,” Wintergreen Fire Chief Curtis Sheets tells BRL around 6:15 Saturday evening. Chief Sheets also said forestry service has a spotter plane scoping the area and Augusta County has command.

“At least 3 miles separate the fire and the closest Wintergreen Property. Winds are nonexistent. There is no threat to Wintergreen. If this changes, residents will be notified,” Chief Sheets continued.

Additional fire crews were being called to stage at the visitor’s center to assist in battling the blaze. Crews were having to walk into parts of the area to get to the base of the fire below the parkway.

Hard to believe it was way back on 11.11.11 that the doors officially opened at Wild Wolf Brewing in Nellysford. On Friday November 11, 2016 the company celebrated it’s 5th anniversary.

Long before the restaurant and brewery opened in it’s current location, they had a makeshift small brewery and offices located in the Valley Green Center.

BRL first broke the news Tuesday night that Daniel Rutherford has been elected the new Commonwealth Attorney for Nelson County in a Special Election.

As we told you back in January 2016 reelected CA Anthony Martin resigned only weeks into his new term. After that announcement three others including Rutherford announced they would run for the post. Rutherford had unsuccessfully run for the post originally back in 2011 where Martin handley beat him.

Rutherford takes office in two weeks.

Search Ends For Missing Rockbridge County Man : Found Deceased

According to a news release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday afternoon, the search for missing Rockbridge County’s Clarence Cash has ended. Sadly, he was not found alive.

“On 11/8/2016, 61 year old Clarence Cash was located inside Augusta County by a search team. Mr. Cash was pronounced dead on the scene.

On 11/5/2016 in the early morning hours, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call for a missing adult. The adult was identified by family as Clarence Cash and was last seen driving a 1998 Jeep. Cell tower information placed the phone last seen with Mr. Cash in a mountainous area off the parkway in Augusta County. An extensive search was conducted throughout the weekend in the counties of Augusta, Nelson and Rockbridge both on the ground and by air. The Virginia Department of Emergency Management along with the Virginia State Police and other search organizations to include Fire and EMS providers were brought in to assist with the efforts to locate Mr. Cash. Mr. Cash was found in his vehicle several miles off of the main roadway in a secluded area. The investigation into this matter is being conducted by the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time.

She tells us this was taken from Hanging Rock which is off of the AT and shortly below you reach the top of Three Ridges Mountain. Looking South I think towards the Tye River area. The highest peak you see in that photo is the Priest.

Nelson County Sheriff’s Office Searching For Missing Man

Nelson County, Virginia

First responders are searching for a man that has been missing since Friday.

61-year-old Clarence Cash from the Vesuvius in Rockbridge County was least heard from Friday afternoon when he used his cell phone to call his son.

Cash has reddish hair, a reddish beard, glasses and a stoma. He is believed to be driving a 1998 burgundy Jeep Renegade with a tan top.

It’s that time again. This weekend marks the end of Daylight Saving Time. Be sure to set your clock back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night. Or if you’re a night owl, you can watch it arrive officially at 2AM Sunday morning – November 6th. Then set your clock back to 1AM!

Regardless, fall back one hour!
