Hard to believe it was way back on 11.11.11 that the doors officially opened at Wild Wolf Brewing in Nellysford. On Friday November 11, 2016 the company celebrated it’s 5th anniversary.

Long before the restaurant and brewery opened in it’s current location, they had a makeshift small brewery and offices located in the Valley Green Center.

Just a little over a year ago, Wild Wolf expanded even more when they opened their event center in July of 2015.

Click here and here for a look back at the history of Wild Wolf and the building before WW ever bought it anf then turned it into the spectacular place it is today!

Congrats on 5 great years WW and here’s to many more!

Thanks to Dima Holmes for this beautiful photo from a recent hike she took here in Nelson. She tells us this was taken from Hanging Rock which is off of the AT and shortly below you reach the top of Three Ridges Mountain. Looking South I think towards the Tye River area. The highest peak you see in that photo is the Priest.

You may have noticed our banner photo switched at the top of this page to a nice fall one. Dima Holmes of Wintergreen Real Estate let us use that one.

Perfectly sums up the beautiful colors popping here now. As a matter of fact, in the highest of elevations the leaves are already disappearing. So if you want a glimpse. Get there soon!

Thanks again Dima for this beautiful shot!

Central Virginia Blue Ridge

It’s that time again. This weekend marks the end of Daylight Saving Time. Be sure to set your clock back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night. Or if you’re a night owl, you can watch it arrive officially at 2AM Sunday morning – November 6th. Then set your clock back to 1AM!

Regardless, fall back one hour!

We don’t get that perceived extra hour back until Sunday, March 12,2017.

Ghosts & goblins were out everywhere this past Monday evening during the annual Halloween celebration held on Main Street in Lovingston. It’s a magical time when most of the businesses and homeowners decorate for the spooky evening and hand out candy and treats for the kids!

We’ve been covering the popular event for years, click here to see past ones.

And though the weather this week has been warm and even predicted to be hot on Wednesday, Tommy says much cooler temps arrive by Friday after some showers on Thursday. Listen to his forecast below.

After a long and sometimes controversial wait, the new windows are being installed at the Rockfish Valley Community in Afton. Last weekend the windows started going in that will replace the old ones. Some of them date back to days the building housed the old Rockfish School. Congrats RVCC and thanks to all of the volunteers helping to get the windows installed, just in time for winter ahead!

Blue Ridge Life Magazine donated $1000.00 toward the purchase of the new windows. Countless others across the area also donated to raise more than enough money for the project.

Congrats RVCC and thanks to all of the volunteers helping to get the windows installed, just in time for winter ahead!

Nine years ago today on October 24, 2007 Nelson County, Virginia’s first microbrewery opened its doors. Blue Mountain Brewery opened the first location in Afton, Virginia right along Route 151 where it still operates today.

Since first opening in 2007, the original location underwent a major expansion back in 2010.

In October of 2011 they broke ground on their now operating Blue Mountain Barrel House.

And just two years ago in late 2014 they completed the purchase, renovation, and opening of South Street Brewery in downtown Charlottesville.

It’s been quite a ride and it keeps going!

Glad we were there to see it from the start!

Congrats guys & Happy Birthday!
