The saga over the Re-Use Shed at the recycle center in Afton has started firing back up within the past few days. Back in December we broke the story to you in this post.

After the shed was closed, Tori Jenkins started a petition to keep the shed open.

Since that inital petition drive Tori said it went inactive for a little while. “The reason it has been inactive is because on Dec.17th, while gathering signatures at RVCC, I heard directly and in person from one of the Board members that it would be opened in 2 to 3 weeks. Obviously that didn’t happen and I was not surprised because we were right in the middle of the holidays. What was surprising to me, at the last Board Meeting on January 10th, was the a lack of any movement or plans on the issue. It felt like nothing had happened,” Tori tells us.

She says the the petition has been cranked up again and she will be speaking again for a third time at the next meeting on February 14th, Valentine’s Day.

Here’s Tori’s plans for the renewed petition drive:

-Live petition signing at the Re-Use Shed.
This Saturday Jan. 21st from 10am to 2pm.

To drum up some action by talking to people.

Currently copies of the petition are out in the area:

Blue Mountain Brewery, Bold Rock Cider, UVA Bank,
Basic Necessities, True Value Hardware.

We’ll keep you updated as we know more.
