Norwood
Nelson County, Virginia
Crews continue their cleanup from a train derailment earlier this week that dumped tons and tons of coal along the track near Norwood, Virginia in Eastern Nelson County.
More than 20 cars derailed in the accident that spilled coal along the tracks.
The cleanup continues today.
I want to thank you for using my pictures. I happened to be in the area at the time. We do not realize what a “time bomb” that the railroads are. The tracks and roadbeds are not in very good shape. Despite this problem, they continue to haul more heavy loads than the tracks can take.
You have a great news magazine and do a service to our community.
Thank you,

Mr. J.P Harvey, of a famous Nelsonian family, is so very correct. I reside in New Jersey and here too they do as little as possible to maintain the rails. I live on a mountain above the rail line here ( Pascack Valley Line ) and they are lollygaggers here too.
