5 Day Forecast Prediction For Hanna

We continue watching Hanna out in the Atlantic. She’s been going back and forth between a tropical storm and a hurricane over the past couple of days. Right now the track has Hanna coming ashore Friday morning somewhere around the NE part of Florida upward to near SC. That will be updated as we get closer to the weekend. Then over the next day or so Hanna should migrate northward over Virginia by Saturday morning. If that track continues, then we’ll have a pretty good shot at some more rain, some possibly heavy. But any slight variation in the course of the storm could change all of that.

There’s tons of other tropical activity taking place right now including several new disturbances out in the Atlantic. It’s probable that some other than Hanna will affect the U.S. in the coming days. You can see them all by clicking here.

The nice, but hot, weather continues until Friday when chances for thunderstorms associated with Hanna may arrive.

5 Day Forecast Prediction For Hurricane Hanna

While much of the Labor Day weekend was focused on Hurricane Gustav, folks along the eastern seaboard of the U.S. have been keeping their eyes on what is now Hurricane Hanna. Hanna became a hurricane yesterday and is expected affect folks on the east coast. It’s a bit too far out to know where she will hit, but all projections appear to have her making landfall somewhere around the Georgia, South Carolina coast by the weekend. Of course that will be refined the closer we get, but certainly bears watching.

There’s plenty of tropical activity taking place right now including several new disturbances out in the Atlantic. It’s probable that some other than Hanna will affect the U.S. in the coming days. You can see them all by clicking here.

Between now and the weekend, look for mostly sunny days with hot tempertaure creeping back into the 90’s for afternoon highs. Thunderstorms are possible by Friday.

The second half of the Labor Day weekend turned out nice. Sunday skies remained cloudy for much of the day, but by late afternoon skies cleared and we were left with plenty of sunshine for the last day of August. We ended up with 3.11″ of rain for the month of August here in the gauge at Nelson County Life Magazine in the Rockfish Valley. Our high temperature last month was 99.3° on August 6th and a low of 50.9° on August 12th. Almost all of the rain recorded for the month fell in the last week of August. ON the mountain at NCL-Wintergreen Nature Foundation they ended the month with 3.68″ of rain and a monthly high of 83° on August 16th and a low of 49° on August 27th. Most other stations were right in the same ballpark with their monthly averages as far as valley and mountain temps and rain.

Today will have more sun than yesterday and temps will be seasonal in the mid 80’s for valley highs. The rest of the week looks dry until we get toward Friday when possible rains develop as a result of Hanna churning out in the Atlantic. You can read more about her below.

There’s plenty of tropical activity taking place right now including several new disturbances out in the Atlantic, one that may affect the eastern seaboard by next week. You can see them all by clicking here.

NELLYSFORD : UPDATE! : The “Skinny” On Vito’s Move to Old Grill 151 / Truslow’s

6

If you were out over the Labor Day weekend you may have seen some interesting activity at what once was one of the most popular food hangouts in the surrounding Nellysford area. Most recently it was Grill 151 which closed in May of last year. Before that it operated as Rockfish River Grill. We first told you about the closure here. Even back then there were rumors of Vito’s Italian Restaurant in Lovingston opening a second location in the building owned by Nellysford businessman Troy Campbell who also owns and operates Stoney Creek Auto next door.

As we first told you back in early 2007 Sal from Vito’s confirmed to us that he had plans to open a second restaurant location there if he could get everything worked out. “We want to open there and if we do we’ll have a large wine selection, we won’t be jacking up our prices and it’ll be the same menu folks have come to expect from our Lovingston location,” Sal told me last year. NCL has verified pending opening.

A variety of issues now seem to be worked out and apparently the one of Nelson’s favorite restaurants will be opening later this year in the fall as soon as renovation work is completed.

We will keep you posted!

Correction: Relay for Life meeting

0

Thank you Sheila Layton for pointing out the typo in the Relay for Life story in the September issue. It was co-organizer Susan Steven’s parents — not Sheila’s — who suffered from cancer. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Needless to say, both women’s lives have been affected by cancer, which is why they are planning this event.

For those interested in helping organize Nelson County’s first Relay for Life event, call 434-263-5305 or 434-277-9409 for information. Monthly meetings at Tye River Elementary School begin September 2 at 7pm, that is this Tuesday. The event is planned for June 20, 2009.
