(FABER – Nelson County, Virginia) As we first reported yesterday, members of Faber-based Synchronicity Foundation traveled to the city of Mumbai, India earlier this month to participate in a spiritual program. At last report, Foundation leader Master Charles Cannon has been accounted for. Other members however, according to the group’s website, appear to have been hurt in the attacks:

***We don’t have confirmation on the following as the situation is quite chaotic and evolving, but this is what has been reported to us.***

In response to the many inquiries about our program currently being held in India:
25 participants (comprising sixteen Americans, four Canadians and five Australians) were participating in a spiritual program being held at the Oberoi hotel in Mumbai. We have confirmed that two of our American and two Canadian participants received gunshot wounds. One remains in intensive care with three bullet wounds but is conscious and believed to be out of danger. Two others are recovering after surgery and the fourth has been released having been treated for a flesh wound.

Four members of the party are currently unaccounted for (all four are Americans). It is believed that two of the four were out of the hotel at the time although this is unconfirmed. Several eyewitness accounts report the other two being shot in the restaurant and they are feared dead.

While many of the other participants are still being held in their rooms by authorities at the hotel, we believe them to be in parts of the hotel that have been secured by the police/military.

We have set up a hotline to answer questions:
757-644-3400
(from Australia: 00111-757-644-3400)

We will endeavor to keep this page updated as we confirm details.
Thank you for your support in this very uncertain time for our community.

An unconfirmed comment posted on our original post of the story reports that one Synchronicity member and his daughter were sent to a hospital with gunshot wounds:

6 of the members have been brought in hospital with gunshot wounds . Mr Alan Scherr and daughter are serious.

A LiveJournal blogger who claims to know some of the Synchronicity members in Mumbai posted the following:

Only six of nine of them have been accounted for: one of them has been hiding out in a parking garage and has been calling us using someone’s cell phone, and the other five are alright/being held hostage as far as we know, and there are three we haven’t heard any news on, one of whom is a child who’s supposed to be having the time of her life on her first trip outside of the country right now.

If you can provide any additional information on these developing events, please email us at info-at-nelsoncountylife-dot-com.

Faber – Nelson County, Virginia

NCL has learned that Master Charles Cannon of Faber-based Synchronicity Foundation has reportedly been accounted for following today’s attacks targeting Westerners in Mumbai (Bombay), India. Several Foundation members from Nelson County traveled to Mumbai earlier this month for a series of meditation workshops. Excerpted from Synchronicty.org:

Master Charles Cannon Visits India
Master Charles will be spending the second half of November, 2008 in Mumbai, India. Joining him will be several Synchronicity staff members along with an international group of Synchronicity Associates, many of whom are touring India for the first time.

It is not known at which hotel Foundation members are staying. Reports say targets included Bombay’s top hotel, Taj Mahal Palace as well as the luxury Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point. An event schedule posted on the Synchronicty web site lists the Y.B. Chavan Centre at Nariman Point as a location for this week’s Darshans with Master Charles Cannon.

Roseland – Nelson County, Virginia

Seldom do you hear about the ,small, but great things happening day to day in life. Seems like all we hear is how bad the economy is. How much money the market lost today. By next year, how we all will cease to exist…..

It was a nice break from all of that negativity to see a group of young men do something meaningful for someone who helped them as they have been growing up. “This is a special way to say thanks to Steve {Crandall} for all of the memories and the hard work and sacrifices he made to make it all possible,” says Tom Saunders of Piney River, Virginia who helped organize a special tree planting earlier this week in Crandall’s honor.

Crandall organized and went on two different scout trips for Troop 32 over the past few years taking members on trips they probably would have never gone on otherwise. “These are trips the kids went on that they never would have done on their own, not even considered,” Tom continues.

One of the scout trips Troop 32 went on with Crandall in August 2007 to Wyoming.

NCL followed the 2007 Wyoming trip on our site here.

“It’s very cool. I get as much out of this as anything in life. It’s nice to see people to think enough of what I have done to do something nice like this,” says Steve after being surprised at his Roseland home by his fellow scouts.

“We planed three hydragenias as a way of saying thanks to his wife, Heidi, for giving us her husband for those three weeks,” laughs Tom.

The first trip was to New Mexico where scouts were on the trail for 11 days, hiking over 100 miles, crossing 5 peaks over 10,000 feet in elevation, including one that was 12,500 feet.

Many of the scouts in Troop 32 are now already in college or will soon be entering their first year.

One for the good stories out there! Way to go Troop 32!
