Blue Ridge Parkway
Nelson County, Virginia
Police say they have their man for the Blue Ridge Parkway shootings, and he’s 56 year old Ralph Leon Jackson of Stuarts Draft. We first told you of his arrest Wednesday afternoon.
Jackson remains in jail as investigators continue looking into the circumstances around the shootings, but they say with 100 percent certainty that he’s their man.

The hot weather comes to an end today. Though we’ll still be warm, we can say good-bye to the 90’s for awhile. As a matter of fact, we will be much cooler by Friday into the weekend, by as much as 30 degrees lower from the 90°+ readings on Tuesday and Wednesday.
There is also the chance for some thunderstorms, possibly strong to severe, moving into the area by Thursday afternoon. A round of severe weather hit the mid-south to our west overnight Wednesday and will be advancing toward Nelson and Central Virginia during the afternoon hours Thursday.

Blue Ridge Parkway

Various news outlets are confirming at this hour that an arrest has been made in the Blue Ridge Parkway shootings that NCL first broke to readers on Monday night.
According to this online article in The Roanoke Times, the shooter was arrested in Stuarts Draft around 3:15 this afternoon. Augusta Sheriff Fisher says Ralph Leon Jackson was the man responsible, “without a doubt.” Jackson is 56 years old.

Due to dry conditions, low humidity levels, and breezy winds, The National Weather Service has placed Nelson and much of the areas east of the BRP under a Special Advisory for an increased wildfire threat this afternoon.
Areas to the west, including the Blue Ridge Parkway and areas nearby, are under a Red Flag Warning, which means a high danger of outdoor wildfires.
