Nellysford
Nelson County, Virginia

Once a year volunteers with Nelson’s fire and rescue agencies are officially thanked for their help. The 2010 Nelson County Volunteer Appreciation Day was hosted by Wintergreen Fire and Rescue at Lake Monacan in Stoney Creek. It’s a chance for the county to say thank you to all of the volunteers who help staff the departments throughout the year. The Nelson County Board of Supervisors funds the event each year.

Nelson EMS Coordinator, Ray Uttaro (left) thanks Faber Fire's, Assistant Chief Jeff Fletcher and Lovingston Fire's President, Angie Burnley for their tremendous support and help during the December 2009 blizzard that shutdown much of Nelson County for 3 days.
