Nelson County, Virginia
Tuesday ended on a sunny note after lots of rain fell earlier in the week. The first part of Wednesday will be dry, but as the day wears on several weather features will come together, including the advancement of Tropical Depression 16, to the north. This combination will create widespread soaking rains once again for the Nelson area.

The projected path of TD-16 that will bring lots of tropical moisture into our area late Wednesday through Thursday.

Nelson County, Virginia
Rain will end later in the day Tuesday after dropping in excess of 3 inches in some locations across Nelson County since Sunday. Before the rain started most areas had received an inch or less of precipitation for the entire month. Heavy rains moved across Central Virginia prompting Flash Flood Watches in many counties. Temperatures struggled to make it out of the 60’s on Monday, but should recover nicely into the 70’s Tuesday with the return of some sunshine in the afternoon.

Another chance for rain returns Thursday, with much cooler temps by Sunday night into Monday of next week. Upper 30’s for overnight lows may happen up in the mountains by then.

More details and rain total over in Tommy’s Audio Weather by clicking here.

Wintergreen Resort
Nelson County, Virginia

The final weekend of September was crammed full of events all over Nelson! The closer we get to October, the more events you will see unfold as the leaves begin their change to beautiful colors here in the Blue Ridge. A favorite up on the mountain at Wintergreen Resort is the Oktoberfest put on by Wintergreen Performing Arts. Our Mountain Photographer, Paul Purpura, stopped by and grabbed a few shots. We’re not sure if he grabbed a stein of beer too, but hope he got the chance!

In addition to traditional oom-pah band music, people got to try out local microbrewery beers.

The Nelson County High Governors gave it all they could this past Friday night, but it still wasn’t enough to keep Lunenburg Central from winning the second home game of the season by a score of 42-35. NCL photographer, Paul Purpura, came down off of the mountain to grab the shots from the September 24th game.
