Central Virginia Blue Ridge Area

A potent storm system is developing this Halloween to our west. Conditions are ripe for severe weather this afternoon across a large part of Virginia. The areas just east of the Blue Ridge have a likely chance of seeing some type of severe weather, including very high winds, torrential rains, and even the possibility of tornadoes. The Storm Prediction Center has placed almost all of Virginia in and enhanced risk category for severe weather. (Click here to read more of their scientific discussion.)

The local NWS office for our area made mention of the possibility in their morning forecast discussion.

“All the ingredients remain in place for a potentially dangerous
severe weather event tonight.”

While this is no guarantee of severe weather, the likelihood is high.

Regardless, it will be getting windy the evening into tomorrow morning. Wind Advisories and a High Wind Watch is in effect for many counties as well.
