Homestead-Olivia
Olivia Harris of a.m. Fog Shows Off One of The Homestead Creamery Varieties
Afton, Virginia

Most of you know by now that Yvette and I are expecting a child in the fall of this year. Yea, she’s been drinking the milk lots to keep up the calcium! She’s always liked Homestead Creamery milk. You know, it comes in those classic glass bottles, not far off of the kind the milkman used to deliver in simpler times. Most of the stores around here carried it, then one day she walked in and no more! Gone.

Folks this is one popular brand of milk and it’s the best around. No artificial hormones, and about as close to the cow as it comes! Yea, move over happy steer, we’ve got the happy cow now! As soon as Ken and Yvonne Harris up at a.m. Fog heard about this they jumped all over it! And, yep! They have the whole line of Homestead Creamery milk products in the familiar glass bottles, right there in their market on the Nelson-Albemarle County line on Route 151.

HC-Bottle-1
Nothing’s quite as good as a cold glass of milk from one of those chilled bottles!

And now you can get Homestead Creamery milk just up the road at a.m. Fog. along with all of your vegetables, plants and nursery needs to boot!

You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

The 4th of July weekend is in full swing with lots going on. Before I head off into weather, let’s take a minute and be proud of our country, folks. We hear so much negativity lately about how bad America is and how the rest of the world doesn’t care much for us. Strange they still risk their lives everyday trying to get to the United States. I tend to have a much more optimistic view of our great land. Yea, gas prices are high, food prices are high, lots seems to be broken these days, but we have lots going right and so much we take for granted everyday. If you are a regular listener to this weather cast, you know I am old fashioned and patriotic. No apologies. I love America and I love living in America, especially these beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!

Take stock in our 232nd birthday this weekend, and when you see one of those men or women in uniform, not just this weekend, but anytime, thank them for making it where we can play on the 4th of July, have a cookout, canoe on the river, or hike up into the beautiful mountains here. I never served in the military. My dad was in the air force for one four year tour, I remember him talking about being away from home in the Azores and being so glad when he got back home. Being back home in the U.S. is a great feeling and we should always, always remember that and be thankful for it. Yep, I am not ashamed to say I love America more than any other country in this world.

We’re, unfortunately, still on track for thunderstorm development later in the day Friday. We’ll start out with sunny skies in the morning, but with an approaching cold front in the area later in the day, storms are pretty much a sure bet by later afternoon and evening. Now, these things are tricky to predict and know that everyone won’t be seeing rain at the same time. Some portions of the county will stay totally dry, while others will be drenched. This cold front will stall over our area for the next several days keeping increased chances for storms around. Some of these could be strong to severe as mentioned in the daily hazardous weather discussion. Since the front is stalled over our area, that means the storms will be slow moving and heavy downpours are possible. But again, I have to emphasize, not everyone will get wet, so don’t cancel any plans on this forecast, just pack an umbrella and keep an eye to the sky to take shelter if storms develop.

You can always check here for the latest information and also click on the radar views to the left to see what’s coming.

Scattered storms stay in the forecast right on through next week until that stubborn front finally washes out.
