Nelson Sheriff Mark Embrey confirmed to BRL this morning that a 26 year old Augusta County male was killed late Sunday afternoon at the James River Boat Landing when a round of severe storms moved through the county.
“When Deputies and EMS arrived, they located an unresponsive male subject that was seated inside a motor vehicle. The vehicle was parked, but had been struck by a tree limb that had fallen during the thunderstorm,” Sheriff Embrey told us Monday morning.
The sheriff says the family of the deceased Augusta county man was notified late last night about his passing. No one else was injured.
Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings, along with tornado warnings were issued late in the afternoon Sunday as storms moved across the region. Rockbridge County to our west was particularly hit hard.
