Nelson County, Virginia
Don’t look for today’s winter weather maker to be very impressive, at least not by the standards recently set from other storms here in Nelson during the past several weeks! This clipper system could drop anywhere from 1-3″ of a snow rain mix over Nelson by tonight, but that would be on the high end. The energy with this storm will be heading toward New England and not here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Nelson County Public Schools (VA) will be closed today, Monday, February 15, 2010 due to icy roadway and impending additional snowfall.

Timing and temperatures will be key with this snowfall, we may start as snow, change to a mix later in the day, only to change back to a snow near dark. That could create some driving problems, so be sure to keep up with the weather throughout the day just to be sure.

A Winter Weather Advisory was issued this morning for Nelson. Other adjoining counties such as Amherst and Rockbridge have advisories in effect.

More updates later today as needed.
