Severe weather is probable in some locations across Virginia this afternoon and tonight. After a round of early morning thunderstorms in Northern Nelson, skies have become sunny once again with temps rising to near 90°. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been issued until 11PM EDT for the area. The Storm Prediction Center has much of Virginia, North Carolina and the mid-south in the slight risk area for severe weather. The most likely area for severe weather locally is east of The Blue Ridge Mountains as discussed in this morning’s hazardous weather outlook:

.DAY ONE…THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT

A COLD FRONT WILL DROP SOUTH OVER THE MID ATLANTIC TODAY. THIS
FRONT WILL BRING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE REGION…WITH
THE POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER. SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY BECOME
SEVERE…PRODUCING LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WIND GUSTS ESPECIALLY
EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…WEDNESDAY THROUGH MONDAY

ADDITIONAL THUNDERSTORMS CAN BE EXPECTED WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY.
THERE MAY BE A RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER EACH DAY MAINLY DURING THE
AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS.
