Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks tells NCL”s Web Edition two men have been arrested and charged with a variety of drug crimes after a search warrant was served late last week. The residence is on Route 56 West (Crabtree Falls Highway) between Tyro and Massies Mill in southwest Nelson County.
Father and son, Peter Balin and Kristoffer Balin were both charged with, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and drugs of more than an ounce but less than 5 pounds. Additional charges for the sale and distribution of more than 1/2 oz but less than 5 pounds were also placed against the pair after the search warrant was served at the 3385 Crabtree Falls home.
“This was a cooperative effort between our department, The Rockbridge Sheriff’s Department, and the federal agency of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms,” Sheriff Brooks says. Brooks went on to say that bank records, 24 guns, illegal fireworks, 3 cell phones, 5 banana clips for a rifle, small amount of meth, smoking devices, marijuana, cash, checkbook register, and pay stubs were all taken as part of the search.
The pair was placed under a 5000.00 secured bond and have been scheduled for a court date next month.
