And the no spray cherries are ready! Yvonne says: “SWEET CHERRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For about 3 weeks only, we started picking Sat 31st. Get them while they last! Completely NO SPRAY. This was a bumper crop and they have plenty!
And of course all the other Spinach, (we just planted ours from a.m. Fog) kale, brocoli, cabbage and veggie start, along with 6 kinds of lettuce and 26 types of heirloom tomatoes and sweet or HOT peppers are just some of what you’ll find at their new farm market right on Route 151. They even have pineapple and watermelons to boot!
Then there’s asparagus. Yvette loves it grilled with just a touch of olive oil, pepper and salt! Mmm, mm. Then there’s , meat, and fresh baked bread along with a so many other vegetables I can even list them all.

If you were able to get to a pond, creek, or lake this past weekend you were probably in it! Thanks to our Paul Purpura for today’s weather photo of the folks at Lake Monacan cooling down over the weekend. That was definitely the place to be! Lots of folks from the Class of 2008 at Nelson County High celebrated there over the weekend. Congrats to all of the graduates and good luck!
We did have a cool down Sunday, well sort of, it was a much milder 99° here at NCL-Nelson County Life Magazine in the Rockfish Valley, as opposed to the 100° reading we had on Saturday! Ok, not really cooler, but sounds it!
Look for the heatwave to continue for a couple more days, though the high temps will begin moderating a little on Tuesday, then noticeably better on Wednesday when highs should only be in the 80’s with more organized thunderstorms back in the forecast for a day or so.
The remainder of the week after Wednesday and right on into the weekend looks nice with more seasonal temps. We should all be able to give the air conditioners a rest, not the day off, but a rest for sure!
