If you could pick one of the worst days to become injured and needing rescue, this past Sunday would have been the day. High winds and extremely cold temperatures had wind chills later in the day near zero in the mountains.
The injured hiker was able to get a 911 text out for help just after 5:30 Sunday morning. The ability to get that text out was probably life saving, but the rescue was far from over and would last hours.
