From Nelson County Sheriff’s Office:
“The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the Virginia State Police Interstate Criminal Enforcement Unit and the 3A Regional Drug and Gang Task Force, have been actively investigating multiple individuals for the distribution of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Cocaine in the Central Virginia area. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that one individual, Mr. Demarcus Brown, was traveling out of the area to purchase large quantities of illegal narcotics before transporting these narcotics back into the Commonwealth of Virginia. On May1, 2024, these investigative efforts resulted in a traffic stop in Nelson County, Virginia. As a result of this traffic stop, multiple Search Warrants were obtained and executed in the Greater-Charlottesville, Virginia, area.
The aforementioned Search Warrants resulted in the seizure of $8,000.00 in U.S. Currency, $370,000.00 in Cocaine, $34,000.00 of Methamphetamine, $2,300.00 in Fentanyl, $23,000.00 in Mushrooms, $34,000.00 in Marijuana, (2) Pistols valued at $750.00, and (2) Rifles valued at $1,500.00.
Mr. Demarcus Brown, a 48-year old male from Charlottesville, Virginia, was taken into custody and charged with the following criminal offenses:
- Distribution of a Schedule I/II Narcotic (Second or Subsequent Offense)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Violent Felon
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm While in Possession of a Schedule I/II Narcotic
At this time, additional charges are pending as this case remains an active criminal investigation. Mr. Brown is being held without bond in the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail (ACRJ).
