As of late Friday morning the lowlands of Nelson County didn’t have any official winter weather alerts issued. However along and near the BRP a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect. This would include Wintergreen and general area in the higher elevations. The majority of the snow should fall to the north.

* WHAT…Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches,
except locally 3 to 5 inches especially for elevations above
1000 feet.
* WHERE…Augusta County, and Central Virginia Blue Ridge.
* WHEN…From 9 PM this evening to 5 AM EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour
are possible for a few hours under the heaviest snow bands.
Visibility may be reduced to less than one half mile at times.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Slow down and use caution while traveling.
When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on
steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery,
increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
