Nelson County, Virginia
AS of 10:45 AM the number of customers without power is down to approximately 50.
Original Post :
As expected some people lost power Saturday morning. The cause is most likely high winds caused from tropical storm Ophelia churning off of the eastern coast of Virginia. CVEC had warned customers on Friday this might be the case.
Gusty winds from 20-30 mph have been common across the area even this far inland. Higher wind gusts are expected in the mountains along the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive where a Wind Advisory has also been issued.
Ophelia quickly moves to the northeast away from Virginia late Saturday and some peeks of sunshine may happen by late Sunday.
