Before June 29, 2012 most people had never heard the word derecho. Since then most have never forgotten it! We sure haven’t! At the time BRLM was located in Greenfield of Nelson County. We’d just returned home from a week vacation on the Chesapeake Bay. We ordered take out from Chen’s in Lovingston, threw the laundry in the hall, “We’ll do that over the weekend.” Ha! Put the kids to bed and it hit! We were without power for only two days, but did have a generator. Others in Nelson and nearby went for over 2 weeks before they got power restored.
Not an event we will soon forget!
