Tuesday was another hot day with lots of humidity, so it felt pretty muggy out there. Many of the same areas hit by storms Monday got them again on Tuesday, but less damage happened this time around. Then another round of thunderstorms moved through the area early this morning bringing another round of vivid lightning and rain to the area. Many of us saw much needed showers and thunderstorms, others nothing. Here at NCL-Nelson County Life Magazine in Greenfield we picked up .22″ of rain since midnight today with a high Tuesday of 94.6 degrees. On the mountain at NCL-Wintergreen Nature Fountadion @ Devil’s Knob, the rain gauge picked up just under a fifth of an inch of rain since midnight at .16″ They touched 90 degrees yesterday around noon for a brief 5 minute period before dropping back to the 80’s. At NCL-Tiger Fuel in Lovingston, they picked up .27 inches of rain since midnight today with an afternoon high of 92 degrees Tuesday.
Many other area gauges got rain during the past 24 hours you can view those totals by clicking here.
On the current surface map below, Wednesday morning a cold front is just about to swing through the area bringing in milder temperatures and clearing skies.
Current-Sat Surface Map
On the National Forecast Map, the front makes it through the area today with high pressure to the NW taking control of our weather. If you look at the local satellite, you can see the high pressure actually pusing the clearing line toward us from WV. We’ll see lots of sun by afternoon.
