21 year old Austin Griffin will never leave prison, so says a judge that sentenced him to 3 consecutive life sentences for the May 2009 murder of Opal Page of Afton, Virginia. In a plea agreement Thursday morning in Nelson County Court, Griffin plead guilty to first degree murder, robbery, and burglary.

During the hearing at the Nelson County Courthouse, CBS-19 reporter Rachel Ryan was in the courtroom and said Griffin apologized. “I’m extremely sorry and remorseful.” he told people in the courtroom which included members of the Opal Page family who were tearful during the proceeding.

Christopher Meeks, also charged in the May 2009 murder of Opal Page was not in the courtroom Thursday His case is being tried separately.

  1. to those of you who took the life of opal page you took her away from her family and those of us who are doing genealogy research on our page family.i will never get the chance to talk with her now,she could have answered alot of genealogy questions about my family.
