By now you’ve probably read about Team Nelson that’s part of the upcoming Tough Mudder competition this coming October 22-23rd at Wintergreen Resort. Yep our own NCL publisher Yvette Stafford is one of the entrants! She training all summer long for the grueling course in the fall.
This past weekend Tough Mudder-PA was held and our NCL Mountain Photographer, Paul Purpura headed on up the road to take a preview look at what we can expect to see here in the fall. Management of Wintergreen Resort and members of Wintergreen’s Police and Fire services also went up to take a peek.
Part of the reason for Wintergreen officials heading up was to see what they would need on hand once the competition comes to Nelson in the fall.
According to the Tough Mudder website:
“It’s Ironman meets Burning Man, and it is coming to a location near you. Our 10-12 mile obstacle courses are designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. Forget finish times. Simply completing a Tough Mudder is a badge of honor. All Tough Mudder sponsorship proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project.”
The Tough Mudder website also cautions only the most fit should enter:
WARNING: Tough Mudder is 3-4 times longer and MUCH TOUGHER than a typical mud run such as Warrior Dash. Only 78% of participants at Tri-State 2010 finished. Only those in strong physical condition should enter.
