Homestead-Olivia
Olivia Harris of a.m. Fog Shows Off One of The Homestead Creamery Varieties
Afton, Virginia

Most of you know by now that Yvette and I are expecting a child in the fall of this year. Yea, she’s been drinking the milk lots to keep up the calcium! She’s always liked Homestead Creamery milk. You know, it comes in those classic glass bottles, not far off of the kind the milkman used to deliver in simpler times. Most of the stores around here carried it, then one day she walked in and no more! Gone.

Folks this is one popular brand of milk and it’s the best around. No artificial hormones, and about as close to the cow as it comes! Yea, move over happy steer, we’ve got the happy cow now! As soon as Ken and Yvonne Harris up at a.m. Fog heard about this they jumped all over it! And, yep! They have the whole line of Homestead Creamery milk products in the familiar glass bottles, right there in their market on the Nelson-Albemarle County line on Route 151.

Nothing’s quite as good as a cold glass of milk from one of those chilled bottles!

And now you can get Homestead Creamery milk just up the road at a.m. Fog. along with all of your vegetables, plants and nursery needs to boot!

You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

Thanks to Paul Purpura for today’s photo from this past weekend’s WPA 5K run to raise money for Wintergreen Performing Arts. Paul tells me there were over 100 people participating in the event. Thankfully there were up at about 3000 feet, so it was a tad cooler, but still pretty humid! As always, thanks for the photo Paul!

Yesterday was one hot dog folks! We reached 99 degrees here at NCL-Nelson County Life Magazine in the Rockfish Valley just before 3PM and again just before 4PM. Most other stations reported either mid to upper 90’s for afternoon highs.

Today will still be another hot one, but promises of rain and thunderstorms thankfully moves into play in the afternoon with roughly half of the area getting a shot of rain in the late the day and overnight. Thunderstorm chances linger into Wednesday with some leftover storms in the morning, then taking a break only to redevelop in the afternoon. Not only do we get some welcome rain, but the temps will begin to moderate over the coming days after Tuesday’s hot and muggy one.

We’ll see a break in the activity on Thursday with nice temps in the lower 80’s then chances for scattered thunderstorms possible for the next several days after that, with temps in the 80’s for highs and lows in the 60’s. Some of the storms over the next 48 hours may reach severe limits, we’ll keep an eye out.

Tropical Storm Dolly will probably have some impact on portions of far SE Texas over the next few days as she comes ashore somewhere in the neighborhood of Brownsville.

Tropical Storm Christobal is no longer a factor to interests along the east coast and as you can see from the map below it’s pretty much out of our hair dancing on out into the Atlantic points north and east.
