Olivia Harris of a.m. Fog Shows Off One of The Homestead Creamery Varieties
Afton, Virginia
Most of you know by now that Yvette and I are expecting a child in the fall of this year. Yea, she’s been drinking the milk lots to keep up the calcium! She’s always liked Homestead Creamery milk. You know, it comes in those classic glass bottles, not far off of the kind the milkman used to deliver in simpler times. Most of the stores around here carried it, then one day she walked in and no more! Gone.
Folks this is one popular brand of milk and it’s the best around. No artificial hormones, and about as close to the cow as it comes! Yea, move over happy steer, we’ve got the happy cow now! As soon as Ken and Yvonne Harris up at a.m. Fog heard about this they jumped all over it! And, yep! They have the whole line of Homestead Creamery milk products in the familiar glass bottles, right there in their market on the Nelson-Albemarle County line on Route 151.
Nothing’s quite as good as a cold glass of milk from one of those chilled bottles!
And now you can get Homestead Creamery milk just up the road at a.m. Fog. along with all of your vegetables, plants and nursery needs to boot!
You can always visit them on the web at www.amfog.net or call ’em at 540-456-7100

We’re back in the saddle this Monday after a fantastic 4th of July here in Nelson County. Though thunderstorms worked across the area for the entire holiday weekend. Not everyone got rain all at the same time, so most events went off without a hitch. Be sure to check out all of the coverage of the 4th of July events by clicking here and here and here, and here.
And a quick thank you to trusty Ann Strober of Nellysford. Ann perfectly captured one of the approaching thunderstorms yesterday as it worked across the Rockfish Valley. Look at the rain shaft on that one. That’s a very clear picture showing how intense the rain was. As always, thanks again Ann!
Some of our reporting NCL Weathernet stations picked up quite a bit of rain over the weekend as well. Most everyone got at least an inch of rain with others picking up more than 2 inches. NCL-Tiger Fuel in Lovingston had the most reported in just a 12 hour period on Saturday night with 2.10″ inches of rain. Much of that fell in just a couple of hours. Regardless, it was welcome to get the rain since last month a lot of folks saw an inch of rain or less for the entire month. There were a couple of exceptions, but not many. So what we got over the weekend was very nice.
Look for the scattered thunderstorms and rather sticky feeling weather to continue through at least Wednesday. An upper level disturbance will fire thunderstorms again Monday, more likely late in the day, then an approaching cold front keeps storm chances in the forecast until mid week when high pressure generally takes over and brings partly to mostly sunny skies with temps nearing 90° and only isolated garden variety afternoon thunderstorms.
Tropical Storm Bertha 5 Day Forecast Track
Do want to make mention of Tropical Storm Bertha hanging way out in the Atlantic. The present thinking is that Bertha will make a northwestward turn over the next 48 hours, though she may become a hurricane in that time as well. We’ll just have to see. Obviously if it makes the NNW turn it is not factor to us. However, a more westerly approach and we’d need to take more notice. We’re way early in the hurricane season right now and lots more left to go, but I’ll begin mentioning the ones out there off our coast if they have any prospects at all.
