Blue Ridge Overlook

A search that was getting into high speed ended happily Monday night just after 10PM. Wintergreen Rescue and other area rescue teams were dispatched to the area of the Blue Ridge overlook to look for a missing resident of the mountain. Wintergreen Fire Chief, Curtis Sheets, tells NCL they were informed of the person being overdue and not returning home for about three hours. Chief Sheets went on to say the person may have been affect with Alzheimer’s and lost her way back home.

No sooner than a helicopter had been dispatched and other crews assembled, the person was found not too far from her home on Devils Knob. Other than minor scrapes, she appeared to be okay.
