Other than being hot, it was a perfect weekend for the members of The Shenandoah Valley Soaring Club to take to the skies over Nelson. SVS is an aircraft glider club. They held a get together in a big field owned by one of their member’s family, Hal Loken. Hal is also a glider pilot.

SVS has over 50 members and is based at Eagles Nest Airport in Waynesboro, VA. This past weekend members got the chance to have a little fun off of the airport by landing in Roseland at Hal’s place!.

  1. I was lucky enough to see them circling in the air over my house and I was truly envious.

  2. I was one of the SVS member pilots who was privileged to soar over such a beautiful landscape! We hope we can return again before winter to enjoy the beauty of the area from the sky.

  4. What a fabulous day overall. Soaring effortlessly and silently over and among the Blue Ridge Mountains was a real treat, and the hospitality shown to all of us by Hal and Sarah was very much appreciated.
