On Tuesday, 3/18, the PTA is holding a spaghetti dinner at 5:30-6:30pm, followed by their meeting. Afterwards, the school’s hallways and gym will be opened for the Spring art Show and Focus on Science exhibits.

Youth Art Month is an annual observance that is held each March to celebrate the value of art education in our schools and to encourage public support for a full time, quality art program at Rockfish River Elementary. The Spring Art Show gives us a stage to showcase our students’ artistic talents and inform the public, our local, state and national officials about the value of art experiences in the lives of young people. Youth Art Month gives art programs a chance to shine and sends a message. Too often, the value of participation in the arts is underestimated. Art is a learning tool that reinforces other disciplines like reading, writing, social studies, science and even math. Art education develops self-esteem, an appreciation of the work of others, self-expression, cooperation and critical thinking skills.
