Nelson County, Virginia
What a day! Just a month after a 2 foot snowstorm, people all across Nelson have been dealing with massive flooding. If you weren’t directly affected by it, chances are you had to take a detour because of it.

Above are the rainfall totals Monday morning as the rain was winding down. Devils Knob reported the most with 5.63 inches, topping out at 5.95 inches just before 10AM for that 24 hour period.

Lots of water literally has to go under the bridge before this will be a memory. The James River near Bent Creek in the southern part of the county is predicted to rise about 6 feet above flood stage by Tuesday afternoon before starting a slow fall.

Unfortunately, we must now turn attention to a developing winter storm and very cold temperatures by the end of the week.

Updates on that in Tommy’s Audio Weather later Monday night.

  1. We had 4″ in a plastic rain gauge that only measures 5″. Not sure how much ‘spalshed’ out. The pond is full now. WOW! Now it is flurrying snow 🙂
