Nelson County, Virginia
All eyes have been watching to see what the weather will be doing over the next 48 to 72 hours. As of early Wednesday morning, it appears, Nelson and the surrounding areas of Central Virginia will be spared a major winter storm this time around. That’s not to say we won’t see a wintry mix of weather beginning in the overnight hours Wednesday through Friday, but this storm really won’t get cranking until it’s over New England closer to the weekend. Accu Weather talks more about it here.

After a frigid night Tuesday with lows falling into the single digits and teens, temps over the next day or two will be inching above the freezing mark enough that right not it appears a mix of sleet, freezing rain, and just plain rain will be the primary concerns, beginning after midnight tonight.

The hazardous weather statement by the NWS discusses the potential here.

Though a slight change in the track of the developing storm could change our chances, again this morning, it’s not thought this will be a major storm for our region.

Temps, however, by Saturday into next week will be very, very cold.
