Heavy snow continued Sunday evening across Nelson County and Central Virginia. Due to hazardous road conditions developing, Nelson County Public School officials have closed school on Monday 3.2.2009. Numerous accidents have started occurring across the area as well due to the heavy snow. Snow will continue into early Monday morning as well as increasingly gusty winds out of the north up to 35 MPH. The heaviest amounts of snow can be expected east of I-95, but many areas near Nelson can expect between 4-7 inches of snow by the time it all stops late Monday morning.
At 9:30 pm Sunday up here on top of Wintergreen Mountain, the fluffy snow is just reaching 4″ on the ruler. Interestingly, the swirling winds have coated the windows on the NW side of the house with snow. I don’t recall it every coming from that direction before ….
