Verbatim Press release from Nelson County Sheriff’s Office:
“On August 20, 2025, at approximately 10:00 P.M., a Deputy with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on Front Street in Lovingston, Virginia. As the Deputy activated his emergency equipment to include lights and siren, the motor vehicle accelerated refusing to stop.
The vehicle entered Route 29 Northbound traveling at extremely high speeds, until it made a right turn onto Route 6 (Irish Road). A second Nelson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy, along with an Officer from the Wintergreen Police Department, assisted in pursuing this vehicle as it traveled Eastbound on Irish Road.
Our Office requested the assistance of the Albemarle County Police Department as this pursuit entered Albemarle County, continuing eastbound on Irish Road. The pursuit continued to the Scottsville area of Albemarle County, where Officers from Albemarle County Police Department and the Town of Scottsville Police Department successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The suspect vehicle came to a stop and the operator was taken into custody without incident.
The operator was identified as Mr. Brian Skeen of Palmyra, Virginia, and he was charged with the following offenses:
- 46.2-817 (Felony Eluding)
- 46.2-301 (Operate a Motor Vehicle on a Suspended Operator’s License)
- 46.2-862 (Reckless Driving)
Mr. Keen was held without bond and transported to the Albemarle County Regional Jail. No property damage was sustained throughout this event, and there were no reported injuries to anyone involved.
