Interstate 64 Rest Area

Lots of activity on Wednesday morning had people wondering what was going on at the eastbound I-64 rest area just inside Albemarle County east of Afton Mountain.
According to Virginia State Police it ended up being a false alarm.
“Albemarle County Police and Virginia State Police responded to an emergency call about shots being fired at the eastbound I-64 Rest Area in Albemarle County. Law enforcement cleared the facility and found no evidence of a shooting having taken place. The Rest Area reopened later Wednesday morning,”
Corrine Gellar with VSP Richmond told us Thursday morning after we inquired as to what happened.
