NELSON COUNTY/ ROCKFISH VALLEY CULTURE AND HISTORY PROGRAM
INTRODUCTION TO THE WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY AND HOW
FEBRUARY 26, 2023 AT 2 P.M. AT TUCKAHOE CLUBHOUSE, STONEY CREEK
Nellysford
Nelson County, Virginia
Rockfish Valley Foundation (RVF) is holding this event to connect you to the wonderful place in which you live. We are the nature guys and also dedicated to celebrating NELSON and THE ROCKFISH VALLEY. Why did you decide to come here? How much do you know of its history and culture? THE PRESENTATIONS WILL HELP YOU DISCOVER THAT.
Nelson County began July 1, 1808.
Descendants of many founding families still live in Nelson; the mountains and rivers are still here. Many historic districts have been created.
HOW CAN YOU LEARN? WHAT RESOURCES ARE THERE? WHERE AND HOW TO FIND? SAVE THE DATE FOR THE PROGRAM. LISTEN AND LEARN FROM:
Tommy and Yvette Stafford; Susan Huffman; Peter Agelasto, Woody Greenberg, Lynn Coffey, Mary Rose, Mary Cunningham, Gene Hughes and others. Participate in the Q&A.
RVF has assembled the best and brightest to open your door to the Nelson County and Rockfish Valley past and welcome you to its culture and history. The program catalyst was creation of a searchable index for over 1000 stories of people, places and things contained in Nelson County Life and Blue Ridge Life which was the great work of Tommy and Yvette Stafford. The project was done with RVF intern Nathan Parrish. The 193 issues of these magazines join the writings and publication of Lynn Coffey with 300 issues of her BACKROADS magazine. There are also writings of Kitty Seaman, the Rockfish Valley Foundation, Nelson County Historical Society, Nelson Heritage Center, Paul Saunders, Gene Hughes, Mary Buford Hitz, Stefan Bechtel and many others. The objective is to make it easy for you to pursue your greater interest.
We explain access to the Nelson County Life and Blue Ridge Life magazines searchable index and online stories; the Backroads magazine searchable index and access to its paper copies; access to Rockfish Valley stories in Crozet Gazette; and provide a lot more practical information.
This program will be offered via zoom and have room for about 60 persons at the Tuckahoe Clubhouse for the live audience on Sunday February 26, 2023. After the program, please reach out to the Rockfish Valley Foundation, Nelson County Historical Society and Nelson Heritage Center to name a few. Continue the discovery of Nelson culture and history.
