Last Thursday morning, (January 19) Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Daniel Rutherford announced that he will be seeking another term as Commonwealth’s Attorney. One goal will remain the same for his next term: to aggressively prosecute those involved with dealing and trafficking Meth, Heroin and Fentanyl. “Since I was re-elected in 2019, my office has worked tirelessly prosecuting those who traffic pounds of dangerous drugs into Nelson County.”

Another goal, which already started in the spring of 2022, is to build upon the newly implemented drug court to serve those who are suffering with a drug addiction. “I do not judge my success by the number of convictions. Instead, success is viewed in light of the crimes that are prevented and by the lives we help change.”

However, Rutherford credits the ability to aggressively prosecute crimes and implementing drug court on his office staff. “Every day I get to work alongside the best team of legal professionals around, it is because of their hard work that my office has been able to accomplish so many great achievements and secure justice for our citizens.”

“It has been my honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Nelson County, as the Commonwealth’s Attorney, and I hope that I have secured their trust to serve another term”.
