With just one week until spring begins winter wanted to have one more say before the calendar speaks and officially says good-bye next Sunday March 20th.

While areas to the east of the Blue Ridge Parkway down below had only light amounts of snowfall by late Saturday morning, Wintergreen Resort up around 2500 feet had about 2-3 inches of snow by 10 AM.

Gusty winds have been recorded with the snowfall as well. Gusts to 47 MPH were recorded on our Roseland weather station earlier in the morning.

Various winter weather advisories and warnings remain in effect throughout Saturday afternoon.

On and off snow showers along with gusty winds can be expected throughout the afternoon, but a big turnaround is on the way for next week.

Above, Meteorologist Travis Kosko’s 7 day forecast shows a mainly dry and mild week coming up for the final few days of winter.
