Route 6 – River Road Near Duncan Hollow Loop

“Virginia State Police Trooper T. Skehan is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Nelson County. The crash occurred Jan. 24 at 6:07 a.m. on Route 6/River Road, less than a mile west of Route 810/Duncan Hollow Loop.
A tractor-trailer was traveling west on Route 6 when it ran off the right side of the highway. The vehicle struck an embankment and overturned onto its passenger side.
The driver, Eric E. Chambers, 51, of Waxhaw, N.C., was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seat belt.
Chambers was charged with reckless driving for failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

As of 12 noon the roadway is open to traffic. Officials from VDOT Lynchburg confirmed the road reopening in an email to BRL.
As of 8:30 AM Thursday morning crews continue working to clear the accident scene of what motorists are describing as an overturned turkey hauling truck on Route 6 (River Road) near Duncan Hollow Loop.
Many remember that Route 151 and 6 have long been plagued with these types of accidents (like this one all the way back in 2010) causing long delays and shutdowns when semi rigs hauling poultry wreck closing down the roads.
