Central Virginia Blue Ridge

A winter storm system that moved through the Blue Ridge area of Central Virginia dumped anywhere from 4-6 inches of snow by the time it stopped on Sunday afternoon. Sleet that fell early Sunday compacted the snow so amounts were lower but the landscape left behind was breathtaking. Dima Holmes took these photos off of Blackrock Circle and from the overlook off of Blackrock Drive

The snowfall was enough to close most area schools in Central Virginia. Many schools will operate on a two hour delay Tuesday.
