Nellysford
Nelson County, Virginia

It’s 5-o’clock somewhere, which means it’s perfect timing for the folks at Wild Wolf Brewing Company to make a little magic out back. David Shreve, the director of Wintergreen Adaptive Sports is holding a plastic pitcher.

“These are Centennial hops that we’re getting ready to add as a bittering agent to this soon to be delicious beer.”

David Shreve, (left) Director of Wintergreen Adaptive Sports, helps rake spent grains from a tank while Wild Wolf Brewmaster Danny Wolf looks on. The event is part of a collaborative brew at Wild Wolf Brewing Company benefiting the local non-profit that has introduced outdoor sports to more than 2500 student with disabilities.

The beer is a collaborative brew between the Wintergreen-based adaptive sports organization and the Nellysford brewery, and it looks like the team is leaning towards a Hoppy Amber, which would give the amber an overall “bigness” to the beer. As for the official name? Brewmaster Danny Wolf says that’s something that may be hammered out soon over a pint or two.

With an expected January 2019 release, a portion of the net proceeds from sales of the special beer will go to WAS, which has over the years given adaptive instruction in outdoor sports to more than 2500 students with disabilities.
