TRAFFIC ALERT FOR AUGUST 13-17, 2018

Highway Work Zones in the Staunton District

The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district consists of 11 counties from the Alleghany Highlands to the northern Shenandoah Valley:  Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Highland, Augusta, Rockingham, Page, Shenandoah, Frederick, Clarke and Warren.

Scheduled work is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. When traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

ALLEGHANY COUNTY

 

INTERSTATE 64

No lane closures reported.

 

PRIMARY ROADS

Various roads – Flagger traffic control for mowing and pavement patching at various locations. Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.


SECONDARY ROADS

Route 638 (Natural Well Road) – Road closed for Jackson River bridge replacement between Route 687 (Jackson River Road) and Route 666 (East Morris Hill Road). Follow posted detour. Estimated project completion summer 2019.

Route 3605 (South Durant Road/West Jackson Street), Covington – Flagger traffic control for utility work between Totten Drive (Frontage Road 203) and South Byrd Avenue. Weekdays through December 2018 from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Route 726 (Dutch Hollow Road, Newport area) – Road closed through August 17 between Route 252 (Middlebrook Road) and Route 620 (Newport Road) for bridge replacement over Otts Creek. Residents will have access to homes on either side of work zone. Through traffic follows posted detour.

Route 742 (Willow Spout Road) – Flagger-controlled lane closures for pipe installations and tree removal from Route 11 (Lee Highway) to Route 744 (Leaport Road). Through September 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Route 650 (Power Dam Road) – Road closed August 8 to October 10 for bridge replacement over Stony Run. Closure is between Route 649 (Island Ford Road) and Route 650 (Three Springs Road). Follow posted detours.

Route 701 (Cooks Creek Road) – Right shoulder closures for pavement marking from Route 726 (Mount Clinton Pike) to Route 763 (Singers Glen Road) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through August 31.

Route 738 (Dry River Road, Bridgewater area) – Road closed to all traffic (including pedestrians and bicycles) south of Route 257 during bridge and intersection construction. Follow posted detour. Estimated completion December 2018.

Route 910 (Switchboard Road) – Right shoulder closures for pavement marking from Harrisonburg city line to Route 763 (Mount Clinton Pike) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. through August 31.

Interstate 66 – Rehabilitating bridge over Route 725 (Tuckers Lane).

(UPDATERoute 15 (James Madison Highway) – Resurfacing operations between Route 643 (Bethel Church Road) and Route 655 (West Bottom Road).  Expect lane closures Sunday through Saturday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

 

Greene County

 

Route 631 (Haneytown Road) – Replacement of bridge over Haneytown Creek. Road closed to thru traffic at the bridge. Use alternate routes. Estimated completion in mid-Feb. 2019.

 

(NEWRoute 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Pavement patching operations between Route 645 (Moore Road) and the Orange County line. Expect lane closures controlled by flagging Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Louisa County

 

Route 250 (Three Notch Road) – Pavement marking and line painting between Route 659 (Courthouse Road) and the Goochland County line. Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

Route 522 (Cross County Road) – Pavement marking and line painting between Route 663 (Owens Creek Road) and Route 33 (Jefferson Highway). Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

(UPDATERoute 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Paving operations between the Orange County line and the Louisa County line.  Expect lane closures Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

 

Madison County

 

(NEWRoute 29 (Seminole Trail) – Bridge repairs over the Robinson River.  Expect lane closures Sunday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

 

(NEWRoute 231 (South Fort Valley Road) – Sign installation between Route 670 (Old Blue Ridge Turnpike) and Route 609 (West Hoover Road).  Expect lane closures Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

Rappahannock County

 

(NEWRoute 622 (Rock Mills Road) – Road closed to through traffic Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. as part of ongoing bridge replacement project on Route 626 (Whorton Hollow Road) Use alternate routes.

 

Route 626 (Whorton Hollow Road) – Replacement of bridge over the Thornton River. Road closed to through traffic near Route 622 (Rock Mills Road) Aug. 6-Sept. 13. Use alternate routes.
