The SPC marginal risk area has been expanded west a little bit. Folks near and to the east of the Blue Ridge should be prepared for the possibility of strong to severe storms this afternoon, possibly as early as noon. Wind damage will be the primary threat. Also of note: the KFCX Doppler radar in Floyd County went down early this morning and El Techs will be trying to get it back up as soon as possible this morning. In the meantime, we have several other NWS radars we will be monitoring around us, as well as excellent satellite and lightning monitoring ability. Nevertheless we hope to have KFCX back up before new storms begin developing.
