Verbatim Press Release From Wintergreen Fire & Rescue:
“At approximately 2:00 PM crews responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Laurel Road and Mill Pond Road in Faber. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on its top over an embankment near a creek. There were three seriously injured patients. One required an approximate hour-long extrication. Two patients were transported by ground to UVA and the third was airlifted by UVA Pegasus.
Units responded from Nelson EMS, Wintergreen Rescue, Faber Fire, and Lovingston Fire. Additionally, support was provided by Stoney Creek Auto (Heavy Wrecker). In total there were 3 ambulances, 2 heavy-squads, and at least 3 fire engines. Volunteer and career crews worked seamlessly to mitigate this event. Nelson Dispatch and Wintergreen Dispatch worked together to manage operations on 4 different frequencies, as well as other concurrent EMS incidents.
The crash remains under investigation by the Virginia Stage Police who were assisted on-scene by the Nelson County Sheriffs Office.
