As of 3:34 AM Wednesday morning 9.7.16 – Va511 (VDOT) shows the accident scene finally cleared and the roadway back open.

Photo By Yvette Stafford BRL: Just before 4PM Tuesday afternoon another accident occurred between a semi and a car in the vicinity of Old Route 6 ( Afton Mountain Road) and Route 250. As BRL Publisher Yvette Stafford says below, traffic was then diverted to the BRP.

3:33 PM : BRL Publisher reports:

“I was about to take 6 off of Afton Mtn but now there is a SECOND wreck at 6. Tractor trailer vs car. VDOT turning us around at top of Afton Mtn.”

Just after 11AM Tuesday morning a tanker truck overturned at the intersection of Route 151 & 250 in Albemarle County just north of the Nelson County line on 151.

Eyewitness reports say they have seen contents leaking from the truck, but at this time it’s unknown what the truck was transporting. The Virginia State Police are referring to the incident as a “hazmat” situation.

Avoid the intersection as traffic delays will be great.
