Nelson County, Virginia

Just a 4 years after after Nelson County broke ground on its original fiber network a recent grant allocation by The Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development will allow the expansion of fiber into areas south of Route 6 (Martins Store) into Nellysford and along Route 151 to Route 664 into a large part of Beech Grove. Additionally, the $200,000 grant allows the network to be extended greater distances north on Route 151 into the Avon area and west along Route 6 (Mountain Road). The expansion will bring fiber internet availibility to businesses like Bold Rock Hard Cider & Devils Backbone and Wild Wolf Brewing to the south, to name a few, and Veritas Winery to the north. Residences & home based based businesses along that route will also have the capability to attach to the network. Existing providers will be able to utilize the backbone to extend their customer base.
