Nelson County, Virginia

Nelson County continues to gain notoriety as a wine making mecca in Virginia and on the East Coast of the U.S. Thursday night dozens and dozens of authors, writers, journalists, bloggers, broadcasters, photographers and lecturers, that communicate about wines and spirits descended on Afton at Veritas. The delegation with the Circle of Wine Writers is responsible for reporting back to the entire membership the story of the wine region they visit. This trip marks the second time the CWW has selected Virginia for one of their annual trips.

“Nelson County was selected to represent Central Virginia during this tour. We’re very proud to have been chosen. This is the top of the Virginia Circle of Wine Writers along with international wine writers from overseas,” said Maureen Kelley, Director of the Nelson County Tourism & Economic Development Office.

Each member is assigned specific days/events to cover. At the end of their trip – they compile all write-ups from every member of the delegation and then send out a formal newsletter of about the visit to their membership. Nelson County was one of several stops in Virginia.
