Lynchburg: Michael Learned (Olivia Walton) Visits Waltons’ Fan Club Reunion Over Weekend

For over 2 decades the Waltons International Fan Club has been holding their annual reunions. The fan club is 22 years old and was founded by Carolyn Grinnell after she met Earl Hamner (the series creator) and Michael Learned (Olivia Walton) at the cast reunion when the Waltons Mountain Museum opened in Schuyler. Fans met this year in Lynchburg where Learned greeted everyone.

Ralph Waite (who played John Walton - the father in the series) was memorialized in a special remembrance during Saturday's reunion in Lynchburg. The fan club honored Waite with a compilation video and an empty chair under his photo.

Earl Hamner, the creator of the series, was back visited his hometown of Schuyler, Virginia in Nelson County back in April of 2014. He was there for several days as crews shot a documentary about his life. The series is still in the production and editing phases.
